Jeld-Wen Tradition

Allen’s 25 Birdies Doesn’t Add Up to a Win
Michael Allen’s birdie on the 15th hole gave him the outright lead on Sunday at the Jeld-Wen Tradition, but a bogey on the very next hole cost him a chance at his second major title on the Champions Tour. It was a scenario all too common for Allen here at Crosswater Club, where he made 25 birdies over his four rounds, the most of anyone in the field. But, it only left him 11-under par at the finish.

“It seems like I took three steps forward and two steps back all week,” said Allen, who likely climbed into top-30 status on the Champions Tour with his second place finish. Allen is planning to play the next three weeks on the Champions Tour before shifting back to the PGA Tour for the fall events. Allen currently holds fully exempt status on the regular tour as well.
