Tom Lehman is in a fortunate position for Sunday’s final round of the Jeld-Wen Tradition. He holds a two-stroke lead and he’ll be able to keep his eyes on his most dangerous challenger Bernhard Langer, who his chasing his third consecutive major victory on the Champions Tour.
Lehman and Langer will be paired together on Sunday.
“Oh, he’s in the last group? asked Lehman. “That’s great. He’s had such a great year and he’s such a great guy. I really enjoy playing with him. It will be a great day of golf. I know he’ll play well, so he’ll force me to play well.”
There are 10 golfers within three strokes of the lead. Other notables at 9 under are Fred Funk and J.L. Lewis. But Lehman is getting better and better as the week is progressing; a bad sign for those trying to catch him.
“This was my most solid round of the week,” said Lehman of his 3-under-par 69 in the third round, which was highlighted with a birdie on 17th hole for the second consecutive day. “Except for the double bogey on (hole) eight, I was really pleased with the round.”
