Tom Lehman has played in golf tournaments in seven of the last eight weeks, a longer stretch than he can ever remember in his career. Now, after rounds of 67-69 to stand two strokes off the lead at the Jeld-Wen Tradition, he’s hoping his body can hold up for two more days.
“The whole day was frustrating for me,” said Lehman on Friday. “I started off hitting it really good, but making nothing. I started losing my patience, which is somewhat unusual for me. Golf is such a mental game that when you start forcing things you make it much more difficult.”
But Lehman birdied three of the last five holes and salvaged his round.
“I made a great par on 12 (getting down in three strokes from 270 yards out) and then told my caddie, “Let’s make three birdies coming in, and we did. So I do feel good about that,” said Lehman, who is looking for his third win on the Champions Tour.
